What is Autism and Why It Matters in Saudi Arabia

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition affecting how individuals communicate, learn, and engage with others. It is highly variable, requiring personalized approaches to care and support.
In Saudi Arabia, autism represents a growing public health concern:

1 in 100 children is estimated to have ASD
Diagnosis is often delayed, with most cases identified after 4 years of age
Over 30–60% of children with autism also present with ADHD
Chronic sleep disorders, gastrointestinal issues, anxiety, and depression are significantly more common
